Project Overview
Improving Customer Experience
Streamlining Bookings with an Online Presence
Lumiere Hammam is a luxury spa and Turkish hammam based in Bradford, offering indulgent relaxation experiences, including massages, hot tubs, hammam scrubs, and other bathing facilities. However, they operated solely through phone and social media for bookings and enquiries, with no dedicated website for potential customers to learn more about their services.
Noticing this gap, I approached Lumiere Hammam with the idea of creating a website to streamline their booking process and provide customers with easy access to information, reducing the strain on their team and improving overall customer experience. The secondary goal was to establish a strong presence in search engine results beyond just their Google Business Profile, ensuring greater visibility and accessibility for potential customers.
After discussing with the team, it became clear that handling enquiries was consuming a significant amount of their time, causing delays for other potential customers and impacting their ability to take new bookings. While they wanted to continue accepting bookings over the phone, they were keen to streamline the process by reducing the time spent on enquiries.
This project focuses on developing a dedicated website for Lumiere Hammam and sister sites, providing potential customers with essential information about their services, pricing, and facilities. By doing so, the aim is to reduce the volume of enquiry calls and improve their online presence, allowing the team to manage bookings more efficiently while maintaining their personalised phone-based booking system that customers are already familiar with.

Challenge
The challenge was creating a website from scratch without any existing digital resources. I had to gather all necessary information directly from the Lumiere Hammam team, gaining a deep understanding of their business model, services, and customer journey. Since 95% of their users accessed their services via mobile, the website needed to be designed with a mobile-first approach, ensuring seamless usability and accessibility. Additionally, the design had to reflect the luxury, premium, and relaxing atmosphere of the spa, capturing the essence of their brand while maintaining functionality. Balancing aesthetics with efficiency was key to ensuring the site not only looked high-end but also provided a smooth and intuitive user experience.

Research & Discovery
Gather detailed information about Lumiere Hammam’s services, business model, and customer journey through discussions with the team. Identify key challenges, user needs, and the brand’s luxury aesthetic to shape the website’s vision. Performing a competitor analysis to understand what brands in similar areas were doing to understand industry specific needs. Read reviews of their services to understand customer pain points regarding lack of information and transparency.

Planning & Design
Develop a mobile-first design, ensuring an intuitive user experience for their 95% mobile audience. Create a visually appealing layout that reflects the spa’s premium and relaxing atmosphere, incorporating brand colours, imagery, and typography that enhance the luxury feel. Gather all relevant assests for the website. Plan where to place CTA’s around the site at each stage of the buyer journey to ensure customers can get in touch regardless of their position in the buyer funnel.

Website Development
Build a fully responsive website based on the initial design, ensuring a smooth and accessible user experience. The site will feature clear service descriptions, special offers, pricing details, and terms of service, all presented in an easy-to-navigate layout. A streamlined booking process will be implemented to reduce enquiry time. Apply optimisation techniques to enhance loading speed, minimise friction in navigation, and ensure the site remains intuitive and engaging for both new and returning customers.

Testing & Launch
Conduct thorough testing to ensure the website is fully responsive, user-friendly, and optimised for all devices. Check for mobile compatibility, accessibility compliance, and fast loading speeds to enhance overall performance. Gather feedback from the Lumiere Hammam team and potential users to refine usability and address any issues before launch. Provide training for the team on managing content and handling the website. Monitor post-launch performance, offering ongoing support to maintain an intuitive and seamless user experience.

The Results
- Reduction in Booking time, improving efficeny and frequency of bookings.
- Ranking in the top 5 results on page 1 for Spa in Bradford.
- Average Click-Through Rate (CTR) since website launch driving new customers.
On average, it previously took around 15 minutes for a customer to book a service over the phone due to the time spent answering enquiries. With the introduction of the website, this process has been streamlined, reducing the booking time to just 3 minutes. This has significantly improved efficiency, allowing the Lumiere Hammam team to handle more bookings while enhancing the overall customer experience.
With the launch of the website, Lumiere Hammam now has a established a strong online presence and can be easily found by potential customers. They currently rank in the top 5 search results for “spa Bradford,” increasing their visibility and attracting more organic traffic.
Lumiere Hammam’s website not only ranks in the top 5 search results for “spa Bradford,” but it also achieves an 8% click-through rate (CTR) via Google Search. This strong visibility and engagement have significantly increased their organic traffic and customer reach.
